The training program focuses on Geropsychology, Health psychology and Multi-Cultural competency.

Training consists of:

 

  • One-year half-time (20-24 hours/week) or One-year full-time (40-44 hours/week)
  • Opportunities to conduct short-term and long-term therapy (individual and group)
  • Opportunities to conduct neuropsychological assessments and write reports
  • Opportunities to develop and present psycho-educational workshops to clients, families and caregivers
  • Direct clinical experience (inpatient: skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities; and outpatient: at home, in office)
  • Typical caseload: part-time 5-10 direct clinical hours, full-time 10-15 direct clinical hours
  • Opportunities to work within a multi-disciplinary treatment team (physicians, nurses, nutritionists, social workers, etc.)
  • Weekly supervision (individual and group) by licensed psychologists
  • Didactic Training (weekly, evidence-based treatment approaches, elderly and chronic illness issues required for licensure)
